The Milwaukee Braves traded George Crowe to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Bob Hazle
and a player to be named later; Milwaukee Braves received Corky Valentine (May 10,
1956
).

April 10, 1956
The Chicago Cubs sold Pidge Browne to St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cincinnati Reds claimed Frank Smith from the St. Louis Cardinals on waivers.

April 16, 1956
The Washington Senators sold Johnny Groth to the Kansas City Athletics.

The Chicago White Sox signed Howie Pollet as a free agent.

The Chicago White Sox sold Carl Sawatski to Toronto (International).

The Kansas City Athletics traded Lee Wheat, Tom Saffell and cash to the Brooklyn Dodgers in
exchange for Tim Thompson.
